Darnell Hegarty Is the owner and founder of The H&A Brokerage Inc.; a full service private equity brokerage and consulting firm serving private and institutional clients in a variety of market regions both domestically and internationally. Hegarty’s mission, shared through the activities of his firm, is to work directly with principal institutions and key individuals to fulfill the aspiration of helping local and foreign regions respectively grow stronger and more productive as economic units. His company’s expertise as a brokerage firm will allow achievement of the mission through the syndication of new ideas and professional relationships.
In 2011 Hegarty received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Rowan University. During his tenure at Rowan, he served as a member of several mentoring programs including Visions of the Future, Harley E. Flack Mentoring Program, and Students United for Mentorship and Service. As a student mentor he received an award and scholarship recognizing him as mentor of the year for his dedication to his students. Furthermore whilst at Rowan, Hegarty enjoyed a creative collegiate career where he utilized his diverse set of talents to pursue a wide range of activities. He worked for the office of Student Affairs, Resident Life as an RA, a member of the Rowan football team, a senator in SGA, and joined the Rowan Economics Society which he became president of during his senior year. He also attributes his college years to the development of his entrepreneurial acumen. He started his first two businesses his sophomore and junior years respectively.
As a company owner Hegarty works directly with his principals and his firm’s partners on a daily basis to ensure client satisfaction, employee development, and fiscal profitability levels set forth by and on behalf of his company and shareholders. From a young age, Hegarty sought guidance from selected peers and self-chosen established mentors to aid him in his future aspirations. Once in college, he gained meaningful experience by immersing himself in the local business community and in his studies of banking, finance, and the economy. His determination and interest in these disciplines led him to discover his own strength for connecting people and developing strategically profitable relationships. Hegarty’s desire for success and passion for knowledge did not stop once he graduated college. Post-college he went on to secure national and state licensure in an array of fields with the end goals of both increasing his personal knowledge, and increasing the intangible gross intellectual value that he possesses in order to be able to competently serve a variety of clients. Hegarty proudly holds state and national licenses in insurance, banking, mortgage, and real estate. He also is a notary public and serves in his community on the advisory board of a local non-profit organization. Hegarty’s overall passion and dedication stem from his personal life goal of helping others succeed. This aspiration has taken on many forms and avenues throughout the course of his years of effort, trial, and error. He concludes that this has led him to where he is now. Hegarty says that the success of his firm will in turn effectively enable him to reinvest in his local community to assist the local business community become more marketable and profitable.
Hegarty comes from a unique background and attributes his strengths and his drive to the adversity he overcame as a result of several challenging circumstances presented to him during his early life. His life goals are to give back to his home community and to operate a number of successful firms that will provide the means to do this. He quotes, “It is my firm belief that each individual is their own greatest asset and resource. They just need to believe it and then act upon it.”
